Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for various routine tasks required of a finance department. This position assists with the maintenance of accounts payable, general ledger accounting and entry-level reporting. Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities:
· Reviews all payment vouchers for accuracy, ensuring purchase orders are properly prepared and signed by authorized individuals.

· Posts accounts payable invoices to general ledger; processes check and pays invoices according to established criteria using accounting software.

· Prepares cash and checks for deposit for proper bank accounts and posts receipts to proper account number to the cash receipt journal.

· Responsible for verifying gaming related activities, preparing and filing appropriate gaming reports with municipal and state level agencies on a bi-weekly and quarterly basis, respectively.

· Audits petty cash funds to ensure they are being managed in accordance with current policy and procedure.

· Responsible for general ledger journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations

· Prepares vouchers, reports, and ad hoc requests for the Office of Aging (OFA), Office of Mental Health, and other funding partners.

· Prepares 1099 returns for applicable vendors. Acquires and retains all W-9 forms for vendors/contractors.

· Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference helpful.

· Preferred experience includes working with not-for-profit entities, human service industry experience, and experience working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and payroll data processing system such as Paylocity, Paychex, or ADP.

Skills and Experience:
- Must possess an Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field or 2 years of general bookkeeping or related experience
- Proficiency in using accounting software, such as Sage or similar platforms
- Experience with account analysis and reconciliation processes
- Familiarity with financial report writing and analysis
- Knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to accounting practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
